As a painter, Susan’s environment, and a desire to make some simple connection with the viewer influence her paintings. Her work ranges from 6” x 8” to 48” x 48”, and are mostly acrylic on paper or canvas. She lives in Atlanta with her husband, two children, 3 dogs, 3 cats and 4 horses. Previously a resident of Chicago, her subject matter has changed to reflect a less urban life with a more organic feel to it than the cityscapes of earlier years. She has been learning dressage, the classical form of riding, since she moved to Atlanta 21 years ago, and has achieved her goal of having a farm where she can personally maintain her own horses. She and her daughter attend horse shows throughout the southeastern United States.
Easton has always kept busy as a teacher. Being connected and making contributions are rewards themselves. She taught at the Art Institute of Atlanta and the Portfolio center from 1985-1988 when she first arrived here, and after having two children and realizing that the public schools offered no art programs, she became the volunteer art teacher for the entire school. Now that her children are a little older, she works for the community education program, teaching painting
and drawing.
